DirectMe is a Responsive Route Guidance and Identification System. DirectMe, a patented product by GoVivid Co. is an integration of advanced technologies that facilitate autonomous navigation, both indoors and outdoors, for people who are blind and visually impaired.  The technical innovation is similar to that of the responsive self-driving automobile.

DirectMe incorporates a discrete hands-free wearable device that provides real-time responsive obstacle detection and avoidance. The device detects objects front facing and the entire periphery as it continuously scans the environment and delivers audible or haptic/sensory feedback concerning the location of the detected obstacle.

The navigation component of the DirectMe system is a voice responsive and two-way interactive mobile application to be downloaded to a smartphone or portable smart device.

The mobile app receives, processes, and transmits real-time data about the individual’s location such as a mall, airport, museum, sports arena, College campus, etc. Upon receiving a verbal destination request from the individual, the application software will calculate the best route and audibly deliver a step by step, turn by turn, safe navigation to the desired destination. The wearable device will also give an audible alert if any obstacles such as moving people or objects enter the path of the individual while navigating to the desired destination.

Not every person who is blind or visually impaired has the same set of needs. The DirectMe system is wonderfully adaptable and user-friendly.

It will allow people of all ages to safely and independently navigate the known world thus increasing socialization and quality of life.
